Case Study: UX Quantitative Survey Research to Determine Satisfaction and Levels of Interaction in Corporate Digital Products
Project Context:
The quantitative research was completed and approved as part of the completion of my doctorate.
My Role in the Research:
Lead Researcher
Research Questions:
1) What is the statistical difference between the satisfaction levels of users of two different digital environments?
2) What is the statistical difference between the levels of interaction and satisfaction between two digital environments?
Research Methods:
The methodology was a quantitative, non-experimental research study using survey research.
Participant Sampling:
Voluntary participant recruitment with screening criteria was established via a preliminary survey with exclusion criteria. A total of 303 participants responded (N = 282 after removing outliers).
Insights:
Statistical analysis indicated a statistically significant difference between the two digital environments for all variables tested, except satisfaction when satisfaction was analyzed alone (R1).
Impact:
The research indicated a correlation between service interaction and satisfaction in both digital environments tested. Future studies could involve an experimental design, A/B testing, live testing using Lookback, or heatmapping using Hotjar.
N = 282 finalized after removing outliers
Case Study: UX Mixed Methods Research to Determine Website Accessibility and Level of Support
Project Context:
The American Institutes for Research funded a proposal to research the user experience in online degree completion programs. The research design was an experimental, mixed-method design.
My Role in the Research:
Research Assistant: Responsible for participant recruitment, survey design, and research proposal writing.
Research Questions:
1) How equitable and effective are digital service providers for various demographics/personas?
2) What is the measurement of quality and equitable access of each site?
Research Methods:
Mixed-method convergent parallel research design confirming quantitative measures with qualitative experiences. Qualitative data consists of interviews and cross-case analysis.
Participant Sampling:
Informed Consent and screening questions were built in Qualtrics with a target of 200 participants. Qualitative interviews and focus groups were conducted via WebEx with program managers of the digital content.
Insights:
Unfortunately, the research was not completed because of the pandemic pausing the programs in the study.
Impact:
The outcomes planned included quantitative user experience quality measures to provide recommendations for digital program improvement.
Project Plan: Data Collection, Coding, Triangulation
Case Study: UX Quantitative Survey Research to Determine Level of Service in Online Academic Programs and Associated Customer Service
Project Context:
Quantitative and qualitative data were collected via survey research to determine the level of service satisfaction and the current demographic of an online academic program.
My Role in the Research:
Lead Researcher
Research Questions:
What is the current demographic data of the users?
What is the level of user satisfaction with the digital service?
Research Methods:
The methodology was a mixed-methods, non-experimental research study using survey research.
Participant Sampling:
Voluntary survey sampling of existing digital users (N=359).
Insights:
The results provided leadership with sufficient evidence to modify the digital design and online services.
Impact:
The findings provided evidence to shift resources to digital resources most valued by the user base. The data also provided program managers with a better understanding of user barriers, leading to a plan to respond and improve the digital products.
